What is the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program?
The Program was implemented in 2001 and provides tax credits to eligible businesses contributing to approved scholarship organizations or educational improvement organizations. The EITC Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) on a first-come, first-served basis.
What businesses qualify to participate in the Program?
Businesses in Pennsylvania that pay any of the following taxes: Corporate Net Income Tax; Capital Stock and Franchise Tax; Bank and Trust Company Share Tax; Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax; Insurance Premiums Tax; and the Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax. Any size or type of business can participate in the EITC Program.
How much of a tax credit can I get for my business?
The pre-kindergarten tax credit is a one-year commitment with an automatic 90% credit. The first $10,000 donated to a pre-kindergarten tax credit is 100% deductible. Eligible businesses may take up to $100,000 in tax credits per year.
