In Celebration of The Week of the Young Child, children at TELI’s South Hills preschool were treated to a DISCOVERY class provided by Children’s Hospital of UPMC.  Children watched an educational video about going to the hospital, heard their own heart beat with a stethoscope and became familiar with other equipment used in hospitals with Nurse Peggy, RN, BSN.  Through DISCOVERY, children learned that health care providers care for them, support them and understand their feelings. 

The Early Learning Institute celebrates the Week of the Young Child!  TELI’s Penn Center Preschool students were delighted by a special reading featuring  Nedra Perkins.  Ms. Perkins, former director for the SW Regional Key and current Vice President of Early Learning for the YWCA, shared Pennsylvania’s One Book, Every Child’s selection for 2010, What a Treasure by Jane and Will Hillenbrand.  “We try to blanket every community,” explained  Ms. Perkins, by reading the present book selection to as many children as possible across a five county span in Southwestern PA.  The eager preschool students enjoyed an animated journey with the main character Mole as he dug for treasures. 

In honor the Week of the Young Child, the children at TELI’s Ohio Valley preschool celebrated by parading around the center's neighborhood!  The children created their own signs praising the wonderful qualities of childhood and enjoyed their very own parade on a beautiful spring day.
