Speech and Language Program

The Early Learning Institute’s Speech and Language staff brings their experience and professionalism to your child in a variety of settings and programs. Services are available in all of our programs, from Infant/Toddler (birth to 3 years) to Preschool (3 to 5 years to Community Groups (3 to 5 years). We believe in keeping the parents informed of their child’s progress and provide progress monitoring reports on a regular basis.

Communication delays may be in:

  • Articulation (how sounds are made)
  • Receptive language (how language is understood)
  • Expressive language (how words are formed into sentences)
  • Voice (the quality of words)
  • Fluency (the rate of speech)
  • Oral motor (how correct movements assist in pronunciation)

Community Groups

Community Groups are available in our South Hills and Ohio Valley centers.  Children receive therapy services based upon the number of areas that they may be delayed and severity of their delay. The children are assigned to a 30-minute group (maximum of 2 children) or a 60-minute group (maximum of 4 children).  If your child has difficulty separating at the beginning of services, you are welcome to stay until he/she feels comfortable.

We are committed to keeping parents and caregivers involved in the process every step of the way.  We’ll also provide you and your family with useful tools and resources to help you reinforce skills that your child is learning.
