Over the summer, a 5 year old little girl had an idea … a lemonade stand. The big difference in this lemonade stand was where the money was going; not her piggy bank, but to help others!!
Morgan, a 5 year old teli alumni, was reminiscing with her mom about her time with her teli therapists and asked the question, “How can we help other kids walk like teli helped me Mom? “ A lemonade stand to raise money for teli seemed like the perfect idea!
Morgan began Early Intervention therapy through teli at 18 months of age. Kim, Morgan’s mom was a new mom with lots of questions. “Why isn’t Morgan sitting up like other kids? She is not babbling like other children.. why is that?” She approached her pediatrician with concerns about her daughter’s developmental delays. Given that children develop at different rates, they agreed they would keep an eye on things over the next few months.
At Morgan’s next check-up, Kim happened to see an article in local parenting magazine about Early intervention Therapy. The description sounded all too familiar, not walking, or sitting or speaking based on her age. Kim was determined to get Morgan the help that she needed and spoke with her doctor about getting Early Intervention treatment.
After an initial assessment, Kim selected teli to provide Early Intervention services based on their reputation. Morgan’s needs were extensive and included physical therapy, occupational therapy, developmental therapy and speech therapy. Therapy sessions in their home helped Morgan to progress within her normal surroundings which was a big plus for Kim, “We had amazing support from the teli therapists who came into our home on a regular basis to work with Morgan. They were so patient and helpful with Morgan! They truly became part of our extended family!”
Within a few months, Morgan’s speech had improved to the point that she was on par for children her age and she was walking with the support of braces specifically designed for her.” Our family is extremely grateful to the teli therapists for the impact they have made in Morgan! I would encourage any parent to take advantage of the teli early intervention services, to address any concerns that you might have.
Much to the delight of her family, Morgan has progressed and is ready for pre-school and while she is still receiving occupational and physical therapy she has achieved numerous age appropriate developmental milestones with the help of teli early intervention therapy. In addition to her achievements, the teli therapists have made quite an impression on this little 5 year old! Through her efforts, Morgan raised $115 to donate to teli! As Morgan’s grandmother commented” the benefits of teli keep on giving!”
